Check the exposed joints first

Water at a connector can create intermittent faults that only appear after rain. Outdoor joins should be sealed, supported, and positioned so water does not track into the cable.

Look at cable movement

Wind can rub cable jackets against brick, guttering, or roof edges. A small abrasion can become a signal problem months later.

Document the route

A simple photo record of the aerial, wall entry, and splitter location makes future troubleshooting faster and avoids guessing where the run disappears.

Before you buy or book anything

  • Record which rooms and devices are affected.
  • Test with one known-good cable or one known-good location.
  • Keep affiliate buying decisions separate from basic troubleshooting.
